Lab Results & Batch Testing
At MERIDIAN, our promise is simple: supplements you can actually verify. That means every batch we sell is sent to an independent, third-party laboratory before it reaches you, and we make the resulting documentation available on request. This page explains what we test for, how third-party testing and accreditation work, and how to look up the Certificate of Analysis (COA) for the batch you received.
What is third-party testing?
Third-party testing means the analysis is performed by an independent laboratory that has no commercial stake in the result — not by us, and not by our manufacturer. An outside lab receives a sample, runs its own validated methods, and reports what it actually finds. This independence is what separates a verifiable product from a marketing claim.
We rely on third-party results rather than self-reported figures because an external lab has no incentive to make a batch look better than it is. When the numbers come from someone who does not profit from selling the product, you can weigh them on their own merits.
The Certificate of Analysis (COA)
A Certificate of Analysis is the laboratory's formal report for a specific production batch. It is issued per batch, not per product line, because raw materials and manufacturing runs can vary — so each batch is tested and documented on its own.
A COA typically identifies the product, the batch or lot number, the test date, the methods used, the laboratory that performed the work, and the measured results against the relevant specifications. Because it is tied to a single batch, the COA you review should match the batch number printed on the label of the item in your hands.
What we test for
Depending on the product and its raw materials, batch testing may cover the following areas:
- Identity — confirmation that the ingredient is what it claims to be, so you know the contents match the label.
- Potency and label accuracy — measurement of the active content against the amount stated on the label, so the declared quantity reflects what is actually present.
- Heavy metals — screening for contaminants such as lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury against established limits.
- Microbials — testing for microbiological contamination (for example, total counts and specified organisms) against acceptance criteria.
- Purity — assessment of the material's overall composition and freedom from unwanted substances.
Not every test applies to every product; the specific panel depends on the ingredient type and its intended specifications. The COA for your batch shows which tests were performed and the results recorded.
What ISO 17025 accreditation means
Where a laboratory holds ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, this is the international standard for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. Accreditation is granted by an independent accreditation body and indicates that the laboratory has demonstrated technical competence, uses validated methods, maintains traceable calibration and quality systems, and produces results that are reliable and reproducible within a defined scope.
In plain terms: ISO 17025 is third-party confirmation that the lab is qualified to run the tests it reports, and that its results can be trusted within the methods it is accredited for. It speaks to how the testing is done, not to any health outcome of the product itself.
How to look up your batch COA
Every product carries a batch (lot) number printed on the label. To review the Certificate of Analysis for your specific batch:
- Locate the batch / lot number printed on your product label.
- Email that batch number, along with the product name, to support@meridian-supplements.com.
- We will provide the corresponding COA for that batch through our batch-lookup process.
We are transparent about how this works: COA documents are made available on request. If you would like to review the documentation before ordering, or to confirm the testing behind a batch you already have, just contact us with the batch number and we will share the relevant certificate.
